Tertiary care includes hospitals that provide specialized treatments such as heart surgery or cancer treatment centers.

1.St Elizabeth’s Hospital:

St Elizabeth’s Hospital is a public hospital in Namibia. It is the largest hospital in Namibia and one of the largest hospitals in Africa.

The hospital has over 1,000 beds and its catchment area covers about two-thirds of the country’s population. The catchment area includes all provinces, except for the southernmost province of Kavango East. It has three main campuses: the main campus, which is located at Rundu; a second campus at Katima Mulilo; and a third campus at Otjiwarongo.

St Elizabeth’s Hospital has been providing health services to people from all over Namibia since 1941 when it was established as a sanatorium for Europeans who suffered from tropical diseases such as malaria and yellow fever. In 1962, it began to provide medical services to locals as well as international patients with its shift towards becoming an institution that provides medical care for both locals and international patients alike.

The Sam Nujoma National Hospital of Namibia is a public hospital in the capital city of Windhoek, Namibia. It is a tertiary referral hospital with a capacity of 1,300 beds.

The hospital was founded in 1892 by Governor Samuel James Nujoma who donated land for the construction of the building. The hospital was named after him in his honour and he served as its first president until his death in 1978.

The hospital provides care to all citizens regardless of their ability to pay for services or nationality and treats patients from neighbouring countries like Botswana and Angola as well as from other African countries like Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya and Egypt.

4.Grootfontein General Hospital:

Grootfontein General Hospital is located in the capital of Namibia, Windhoek. It was established in 1892 and is one of the oldest hospitals in Africa.

The hospital is situated on a plot of land that measures 24 hectares. The hospital has a capacity to accommodate 500 patients at a time which makes it the largest tertiary hospital in Namibia.

The hospital has 16 wards, some of which are specialized for children, obstetrics and gynaecology, surgery and orthopaedics. There are also two operating theatres that can accommodate up to 16 patients at a time as well as three speciality clinics that provide medical attention for cancer patients and those suffering from HIV/AIDS.

The hospital also has laboratories for blood tests and other medical tests as well as an intensive care unit with six beds which provides round-the-clock healthcare services to critically ill patients who need immediate attention.

Windhoek Central Hospital is one of the best hospitals in Namibia. It has been providing quality healthcare services since it was established in 1903.

Katima Mulilo District Hospital is the first district hospital in Namibia. It was established in 1988, with a staff of 70. The hospital has a capacity of 80 beds and offers medical services to the community of Katima Mulilo district.

The hospital is situated on Katima Mulilo’s main road, opposite the town centre. It has a well-equipped emergency room and outpatient department, as well as an intensive care unit with 24-hour nursing.

The hospital also has a school for nurses and midwives that provides training for 50 nurses per year.

Kavango East Hospital is a public hospital located in the capital of the Kavango East region of Namibia. It was opened on July 1, 2007 and has been providing quality medical care to patients from all over the country.

The hospital provides services such as emergency care, surgical care, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatric care and child health, general surgery and orthopaedics.

The location of the hospital is very strategic for its proximity to important trading routes in Namibia. The hospital also has a strong relationship with local communities through community outreach programs such as immunization programs and health education programs.

Kavango West Hospital is located in the Kavango West region of Namibia. It is a general hospital with a capacity of 100 beds. The hospital has an emergency room, outpatient clinics and inpatient wards.

The hospital building has two floors with a total area of 22,000 square meters. The area includes the administrative office, dispensary and laboratory. There are two wards on each floor that can accommodate up to 32 patients each.

There are also three operating theaters for general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, radiology and orthopedic surgery respectively. The hospital also has an outpatient clinic that can accommodate up to 50 patients at a time.

The building’s main entrance leads to the reception hall which has an information kiosk for visitors and patients as well as offices for administration staff members who provide services such as admissions, billing, medical records management, human resources etc.

10.Kgatleng Hospital:

Kgatleng is one of the most well-known hospitals in Namibia. It has a total of 844 beds for in-patients and out-patients, and it is considered to be the most modern hospital in the country.

Kgatleng Hospital of Namibia has been providing medical services to patients from all over the country since its establishment on February 18, 1954.

The hospital is located on Independence Road in Windhoek, about 10 minutes away from the city center by car.

Kgatleng Hospital of Namibia offers a wide range of services including general surgery, pediatric surgery, obstetric care and birthing services as well as various other medical procedures.

11.Kunene Regional Referral Hospital:

The hospital is a public hospital that offers healthcare services to the public.

The Kunene Regional Referral Hospital of Namibia is located in the town of Kunene, in the Southern African country of Namibia. The hospital has a total bed capacity of 100 and a total staff capacity of 100. It provides health services to patients from nearby towns and villages as well as regional areas.

The hospital is situated on the southern bank of the Kunene River, which forms part of the border between Namibia and Angola. It is about 30 kilometers away from the city center, and it can be reached by road through a dirt road that passes through Angola. There are no private hospitals in Kunene, so all patients have to be referred to this referral hospital for treatment or surgery

This is a referral hospital that specializes in obstetrics and gynaecology. It has a well-equipped maternity ward that can accommodate up to 450 patients at any given time.

It has a capacity of 450 beds and offers medical care for both the local population as well as international patients. The hospital also provides referrals to other hospitals in the country and internationally.

The hospital offers 24-hour emergency services, which includes an emergency room and ambulance service, as well as general surgery services with an operating theatre, radiology department, pharmacy, laboratory/diagnostic services and physiotherapy department. The maternity ward provides care for up to 450 pregnant women at a time with birthing rooms for every two beds.

Lusaka Regional Referral Hospital provides specialized services in cardiology, dermatology, diabetes, gastroenterology and endocrinology, urology, neurology and neurosurgery as well as nephrology.

The MRRH is one of the few public hospitals that provide a comprehensive range of services including maternity, surgical, pediatric and emergency care. It also offers several diagnostic services such as laboratory, radiology and pharmacy services.

The MRRH is accredited by the Namibia Ministry of Health with a rating of four out five stars for its quality standards. The referral hospital has two main buildings – the main building and the old building.

As the country’s referral hospital, NNH has an emergency department that is equipped to handle all types of emergencies as well as nine operating theatres for surgery. The hospital also has a medical school on site where students receive training from internationally renowned doctors and researchers.

NNH offers both inpatient and outpatient services for patients who need treatment for ailments such as infections, trauma, diabetes, cancer or asthma.

Groote Eylandt General Hospital of Namibia is a state-owned hospital located in Groote Eylandt, Namibia. The hospital has been providing health care services to the people of the island since 1965.

The hospital is one of the oldest hospitals in Namibia and it has been delivering quality health care services to the people of Groote Eylandt since 1965. The hospital was established by Dr. J.B. van der Walt as a small clinic with 3 beds and 8 patients, which later grew into a fully fledged general hospital with 60 beds and over 600 patients in 2011.

Omaruru General Hospital is a general hospital in Omaruru, Namibia. It is the only general hospital in the region and the primary referral centre for all patients from surrounding areas. The hospital has an emergency department and a surgical unit, as well as outpatient clinics for paediatrics, surgery, internal medicine and obstetrics.

The location of Omaruru General Hospital is central to most of the population of Namibia. The city’s population is around 100 000 people and it has a total area of about 1 800 square kilometers. The hospital is located on the outskirts of town and there are no other hospitals within 50 kilometres or so. There are two major highways nearby which connect to Windhoek, Walvis Bay and Swakopmund respectively.
