New Zealand is a small island country located in the South Pacific Ocean. It is south-west of Australia and east of Antarctica. It has a population of 4,700,000 people, with two thirds living in cities.
New Zealand’s health system provides universal healthcare to all citizens and residents. The country is ranked as one of the top five healthiest countries in the world by the World Health Organization.
The government also invests heavily in research and development that helps to push New Zealand up the global rankings for health care quality and efficiency.
New Zealand has a high life expectancy at birth with an infant mortality rate less than 2 per 1,000 live births which ranks it among the top 20 countries by this measure globally.
The country also ranks high on other measures such as healthy life expectancy at birth (78 years) and healthy life expectancy after age 65 (21 years).

1.Auckland City Hospital:
Auckland City Hospital is the largest public hospital in New Zealand and one of the largest hospitals in the Southern Hemisphere. It has a capacity to admit over 2,500 patients each year.

Auckland City Hospital is located in Auckland, New Zealand and was established in 1883. There are four main buildings that make up the hospital including a medical center, emergency department, maternity unit and a psychiatric unit. The medical center is where most patients are treated. The hospital also has an outpatient clinic that sees more than 4 million patients annually.
The Auckland City Hospital has two emergency departments; a general emergency department and an obstetrics/gynecology emergency department with an on-site birthing suite that can accommodate up to nine births simultaneously.
The Auckland City Hospital also has an on-site laboratory which provides comprehensive testing for all levels of care from routine blood tests to advanced genetic analysis
It also has a 24 hour operating room with eight beds for surgical cases..
2.Christchurch Hospital:
Christchurch Hospital is a tertiary care hospital in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is the largest hospital in the Canterbury region and is one of the busiest hospitals in the country.

Christchurch Hospital has three campuses: North, South and Eastern. The North Campus includes a number of buildings including the main building, which was opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 23 November 1961.
The South Campus includes buildings such as Steele House, which was built to replace Steele House at 45-47 Cashel Street. This building also houses an intensive care unit and a 24-hour emergency department facility.
The Eastern Campus comprises two buildings: East Block and West Block. These two blocks house Intensive Care Units, operating theatres, outpatient clinics and a number of wards for general medical services.
The hospital also has an Emergency Department located at the East Campus that provides 24 hour emergency services on weekdays only.
3.Hawke’s Bay Regional Hospital:
Hawke’s Bay Regional Hospital is a public hospital located in Hastings, New Zealand. It was founded in 1873 and is the largest hospital in Hawke’s Bay.

North Shore Hospital is located in the suburb of Takapuna and has a main building that is approximately 23 hectares in size. The hospital has three operating theatres, two birthing suites, six intensive care units and 15 beds for surgery recovery. North Shore Hospital also has an emergency department with around 150 beds and it also offers outpatient services.
The hospital also has facilities such as parking spaces, catering facilities, medical laboratories and a pharmacy which are available to patients during their stay at the hospital.
5.Waikato Hospital, Hamilton:
Waikato Hospital is a public hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand. It is the largest hospital of the region and it provides a range of services from basic medical care to complex surgical procedures.

Waikato Hospital is located on the eastern side of Hamilton, near the city center. The main entrance is located on Victoria Street East, with a smaller entrance on King George Terrace. The hospital has an emergency department and accident and emergency department that are open 24 hours a day.

The hospital has 858 beds with a capacity for 1,200 patients. It also has an emergency department with 20 beds that receives around 120-130 patients daily. The emergency department also provides 24-hour accident and emergency service to all parts of the country.
7.Dunedin Public Hospital:

The hospital is located on the corner of Highbury and Main streets, with a large parking lot on its left-hand side. The main entrance is off Highbury Street, with an emergency entrance off Main Street.
The hospital has two operating theatres that can hold three patients each, as well as one recovery room and one intensive care unit (ICU). There are also 11 beds in the maternity ward which can hold up to four patients each. There are two wards on either side of the maternity ward – Ward A for general medical patients and Ward B for surgical patients. Invercargill Public Hospital has a total bed capacity of 861, including 78 general beds, 30 acute care beds, and 4 psychiatric beds. There are also 6 private rooms available for patients and their families.
There are six operating theatres at the hospital, with one being designated as a special care unit with an intensive care bed. There is also an emergency department that provides 24-hour emergency services with two operating theatres and six intensive care beds. The hospital also has two day surgery units on site, one for major surgery and another for minor surgeries such as stitching wounds or removing splinters from the skin.
16.National Women’s Hospital, Wellington:

The hospital has been operating since then, expanding to become a tertiary care facility for women and children. In 2003, it became the largest single site public health service provider in New Zealand with over 1 million admissions annually.

The Southland Regional Hospital of New Zealand is a tertiary hospital in New Zealand. It is a public hospital that provides health care services to the people of Invercargill, Southland and Stewart Island. The hospital was opened on 17 January 1883, and it is located in Invercargill, New Zealand. The hospital has four floors with 60 beds on each floor, and they are divided into wards. There are also two emergency departments – one at ground level and one at the top level of the building. The emergency department is connected to Healthscope Invercargill Hospital which is another major healthcare facility in Invercargill.
The Southland Hospital provides medical services such as general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics/gynaecology, gynaecology/obstetrics, neonatal care, pediatric care and diagnostic imaging services for both adults and children.
