Gabon is a beautiful country with a rich history and culture. It is also one of the countries in Africa that has made significant progress in terms of health.

The World Health Organization ranked Gabon as having the highest life expectancy at birth with an average life expectancy of 67 years old. The country also ranks 13th in the world for child mortality rate, which is considered low, and has a high level of access to safe drinking water.

Gabon’s health system works on two levels – public and private sectors. The private sector covers about 60% of health care spending, which includes hospitals, clinics and pharmacies. Public health care covers 40% of total spending and it includes outpatient services and ambulances to transport people who are not able to pay for their medical needs.

The Hôpital des Quinze Vents is a large colonial building, built in 1839 and renovated during the 1980s. The hospital has three buildings: the main building, which houses the central administration and medical services; a small building (the “Hôtel”) that houses administrative services; and an infirmary with 16 wards. In addition to its central location, the hospital offers excellent transport links with nearby public transport stations as well as with other important locations such as Libreville International Airport.

The facilities of Hôpital des Quinze Vents are excellent for patients who require medical care or rehabilitation after an accident. The hospital offers 24-hour emergency care, advanced diagnostic equipment, good nursing care and accommodation for patients who need longer-term treatment or convalescence after surgery or illness.
