Phongsali Hospital is situated at the heart of Vientiane, near the National Stadium and close to most hotels and shops. The hospital has a total area of approximately 34,000 square meters.

The Saint Louis Hospital in Laos is the first hospital in the country. It was built and financed by the American government and was opened in 2006.

The hospital has two operating rooms, two delivery rooms and two intensive care units.

The hospital does not have any private rooms or wards for patients; instead, it has a single-room ward (for patients who need more privacy) that can accommodate up to 16 beds at one time.
