3. Mpilo Central Hospital:

The hospital was established in 1967 as Mpilo Central District Hospital. It was renamed in 1972 after Dr. Daudi Kaje Mpilo who died during the liberation struggle for independence from British rule in 1965.

4. Gweru Provincial Hospital:

Bindura Provincial Hospital is located in Bindura, Zimbabwe. It is located on the Harare-Bulawayo Highway, about 10 kilometers from Bindura town, and serves as the second-largest hospital in Zimbabwe.

7. Matabeleland North Provincial Hospital:

The hospital was founded by Dr. Jameson Connolly in 1902 and was initially called “Connolly Memorial Hospital.” It was renamed “Bulawayo Central Hospital” on 1 January 1920.

The hospital has a total bed capacity of 500 beds, with 350 beds available to the public and 150 beds reserved for private patients. It also has a 24-hour emergency department that provides medical care to over 100,000 patients annually, with more than 20% being children under 5 years old.

9. Masvingo General Hospital:

After independence, it was renamed Chinhoyi District Hospital and upgraded to its current capacity of 80 beds. The hospital also has an outpatient clinic that sees about 1 000 patients per day with most being treated for malaria and HIV-related illnesses.

The Harare Central Hospital is the largest in Zimbabwe and is a referral hospital for the country. It was established in 1952 and has grown significantly to accommodate more patients. The Parirenyatwa Eye Unit of Zimbabwe was founded in 1960 by Dr. John Henry Parirenyatwa. The hospital provides eye care services to patients from all over the country, including patients with cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal problems.

The hospital also has an eye bank where corneas are collected for transplantation to patients with severe corneal disease or defects that cannot be corrected surgically or treated medically.

13. United Bulawayo Hospitals:

The hospital was established in 1956 by the Roman Catholic Church with assistance from the government of Zimbabwe. It was initially called St Peters Maternity Hospital but later changed to St Peter’s Mission Hospital after it became a mission station for the Catholic Church in Zimbabwe.

Mukwadzi Adventist Mission Hospital is a public hospital that provides medical care to the residents of the Mutoko District. It is located in Zimbabwe and its coordinates are 18° 46′ 0.00″S, 31° 44′ 0.00″ E (18.7, 31.7).

The hospital has an area of about 2 hectares and it can accommodate about 120 beds for patients with different illnesses and injuries. It also has an ambulance service for transporting patients to other hospitals or clinics when necessary or appropriate as well as a blood bank for storing blood donations from donors who come to donate their blood voluntarily
