Haiti is a country in the Caribbean with a population of roughly 10.7 million people. Health care in Haiti is provided by public and private institutions, and is offered to all citizens for free.

Public health care facilities are under-staffed, overcrowded, and lack resources such as medications, bedding and food. Private health care facilities are more expensive than public ones, but offer better quality services such as medicines and doctors who speak English.

Haiti has a low rank in the world for healthcare – it ranks at number 174 out of 188 countries on the World Health Organization’s Global Health Index 2017 report.

1.Hôpital Albert Schweitzer:

The Hôpital Albert Schweitzer is located in Deschapelles, Haiti and was founded by Dr. Albert Schweitzer in 1913. It is the only hospital serving the northwest region of Haiti and offers a variety of services including emergency care, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics and more. The Hôpital Albert Schweitzer has a staff of 150 doctors and nurses with an annual budget of $5 million USD.

The hospital has been rebuilt after the 2010 earthquake that destroyed much of Haiti’s infrastructure. It now has an emergency room with a CT scanner, operating theater with four beds, two intensive care units with eight beds each, laboratory facilities for blood tests and X-rays as well as maternity wards and pediatric wards.

2.Hôpital de la Croix-Rouge:

The Hôpital de la Croix-Rouge in Haiti is a hospital that was built by the Red Cross. It is located in Port-au-Prince and has two buildings, one for emergency services and the other for long term care. The hospital also has a maternity ward, an outpatient clinic, an intensive care unit and a laboratory.

It was originally named Hôpital Universitaire des Mères et Enfants de L’Association Américaine de la Croix Rouge (HUMMELA). The first part of its name “Hôpital” means hospital, while “Universitaire” means university and “des Mères et Enfants” means mothers and children. The second part, “de L’Association Américaine de la Croix Rouge (HUMMELA)” translates to “of the American Red Cross Society.”

Hôpital Aristide Pétion is a hospital in Haiti that was built by the Aristide Foundation. It is located in Port-au-Prince and offers a wide range of treatments to patients.

The hospital has been operational since 2006 and provides medical care to the people of Haiti. It also provides education for medical students who are studying at the Aristide Foundation School of Medicine, which is located on the same campus.

The name of the hospital is Hopital Universitaire de Mirebalais in Haiti. It is located in Mirebalais, Haiti. The hospital was built to provide medical care for the people living in the provinces of Ouest, Centre, Nord and Sud-Est.

The hospital has a capacity of 320 beds and it provides a full range of medical services to its patients. The hospital also has an emergency room which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The hospital offers complete facilities for patient care like radiology and laboratory services, pharmacy and outpatient clinics that are open from Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

6.Hopital du Canape Vert:

The Hospital du Canape Vert is the only hospital in Haiti with an intensive care unit and a laboratory. It is located in the capital, Port-au-Prince.

The Hospital du Canape Vert has 100 beds, including 60 for adults and 40 for children. The hospital also has a pediatric ward, an intensive care unit, and a laboratory.

In 2010 there were more than 11,000 visits to the hospital’s emergency room.

This means that they are equipped to deal with minor injuries but cannot handle major trauma cases. There are also only two operating rooms for surgical procedures, which limits the number of surgeries that can be performed per day.

The hospital is located in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. The population of this region is about 3,500,000 people.

Saint Francois D’Assise Hospital is the largest and most modern medical institution in Haiti. It has a capacity of 900 beds and was built with the assistance of over $100 million from international donors.

The hospital has state-of-the-art facilities and equipment for diagnosis, treatment and surgery. It also has a well-equipped laboratory for blood analysis and other diagnostic tests; an intensive care unit with 12 beds; a surgical suite with six operating theaters; an emergency room; an x-ray department with four high resolution units; a mammography unit with two machines; a CT scanner equipped to perform nuclear medicine procedures; physical therapy department, including hydrotherapy pool, physiotherapy rooms, cardiac rehabilitation clinic and rehabilitation rooms for children with cerebral palsy or other disabilities.

10.Hopital Universitaire de Mirebalais (HUM):

HUM is a hospital in Haiti. It is located in the Mirebalais suburb of the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince. It was built by a team of American and Haitian doctors, engineers and architects who volunteered their time to help after the 2010 earthquake that hit Haiti.

The hospital has an emergency room with six beds, an intensive care unit with 10 beds and an operating theatre with four tables. The facility includes a laboratory and pharmacy as well as a maternity ward that can accommodate up to 30 mothers at one time.

The hospital was founded on November 3rd, 1864 by the French government. It was originally called Hôpital du Roi (King’s Hospital) and it was renamed Hôpital Universitaire des Cayes in 1996.

Hôpital Universitaire des Cayes has a total of 14 buildings with more than 500 beds, but not all are operational due to the damages caused by Hurricane Matthew in 2016.

20.Hôpital du Centre Hospitalier National de Port-au-Prince (HPNP):

The HPNP is located in the capital city of Haiti, Port-au-Prince. It is situated in the southwestern part of the city, at the intersection of Route de Delmas and Route de l’Ouest.

The hospital has a total area of 8 hectares and consists of three buildings: two large buildings (Building A and Building B) and one smaller building (Building C). Building A is a two-story building with a basement. The ground floor has administrative offices, waiting rooms, pharmacies, labs, an operating theatre and patient wards. The second floor houses surgical suites for obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics/traumatology/orthopedic surgery, ENT/otolaryngology (ENT), ophthalmology (ophthalmology), cardiology/heart surgery (cardiology), ear nose throat surgery (ENT) and urology.

Building B is also two stories high with an underground level that houses laboratories for microbe.
