The Drammen Municipal Hospital was established in 1894 as a result of the merging of three hospitals: Kristiania (Oslo) General Hospital’s branch in Drammensveien, Briskeby General Hospital’s branch at Nedre Strømsvei 12, and Sanderud General Hospital’s branch at Nedre Strømsvei 32.

The hospital’s first building was designed by architect Christian Heinrich Grosch (1859-1921). The current building was completed in 1951.
