2.Cayon General Hospital:

The hospital has a total floor area of 7,000 square meters and it’s equipped with all necessary facilities like emergency room, intensive care unit, maternity ward and laboratory service.

4.Dominican General Hospital:

Dominican General Hospital is the largest public hospital in Dominica. It has been treating patients since 1875 and is one of the largest hospitals in the Caribbean.

The hospital has a total of 15 wards with a total capacity of 1,100 beds. The hospital also has a maternity ward, an outpatient clinic and a laboratory that are all located on its premises. It also has two operating theaters with two more in process of being built.

Dominican General Hospital is located on the eastern coast of Dominica at Morne Fortune and is accessible by road from Roseau and Portsmouth via Douglas Road. The hospital can be reached by boat from Portsmouth or Roseau, with ferry services available for those who cannot make it to the island by land or sea.

5.Immaculate Heart of Mary Hospital:

The hospital was founded in 1869 by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It is the first hospital in Dominica and the oldest operating hospital in the Caribbean.

The hospital has a total of 12 wards, including a maternity ward, a birthing center, a neonatal unit, an emergency room and an outpatient clinic. The facilities include more than 100 beds and more than 40 doctors who are specialists and general practitioners.

The hospital has a total area of about 104,845 square meters and consists of two wings. The older wing was built in 1962 and the newer wing was built in 1997.

– Emergency Room: It serves as the main ward for patients who require urgent medical care. It has a capacity to accommodate up to 40 patients at one time.

– Out-patient Department: It provides outpatient services for patients who are not admitted into the hospital but need to be treated by doctors or nurses.
