Costa Rica is a small country in the Central America region. The country has a population of about 4.8 million and it covers an area of 51,100 km2. The health system in Costa Rica is ranked as one of the best in Latin America and the Caribbean. It focuses on prevention, access to quality care, and equity.

Costa Rica is among the top ten countries with a high life expectancy rate. In 2017, Costa Rica’s life expectancy was 78 years for men and 83 years for women. In terms of health expenditure per capita, Costa Rican spends 7% of its GDP on healthcare which is lower than most other countries in Latin America

In 2016, Costa Rica was ranked 6th out of 191 countries with respect to healthcare performance by the World Health Organization (WHO).

1.Hospital Nacional de Costa Rica:

It has 1,200 beds, a heliport for emergencies, an intensive care unit (ICU) with a capacity of 120 beds and an emergency center with a capacity of 50 beds; it also has more than 100 doctors who work at the hospital as well as about 2,000 staff members.

The Hospital Nacional de Costa Rica provides patient care to all residents of Costa Rican territory without distinction of nationality or social status.

2.Hospital CIMA San Jose:

The CIMA San Jose is a private hospital in Costa Rica. It was founded in 2000 by the National Institute of Insurance and Social Security (INS). The hospital was founded in 1959 by the Adventist Church of Costa Rica and it has grown steadily ever since. Clínica Biblica offers a wide range of services including emergency care, surgery, oncology, pediatrics and obstetrics.

Clínica Biblica provides free medical care to children under 5 years old living in poverty through the Children’s Health Fund.

It has also developed partnerships with other hospitals in order to provide patients with better service and more specialized treatments when needed.

The hospital has a total area of 16,000 square meters and it houses more than 300 beds. It also has more than 25 operating rooms, two intensive care units, and six specialized clinics.

In addition to that, they have an emergency room with a capacity for 60 patients per day and an ambulance service with a fleet of 30 vehicles that can reach any location in Costa Rica within 45 minutes.

Hospital Calderon Guardia is located at 10th Avenue and 6th Street in San Jose. The location was originally called “Hospital Central” but it was renamed to honor Dr. Rafael Calderón Guardia who was President of Costa Rica from 1940 to 1944 and again from 1948 to 1950. It is one of the most important hospitals in Costa Rica because it serves as a teaching hospital for medical students and houses the national trauma center which serves as a referral center for all emergencies that occur outside San Jose city limits.

This facility has an ER with 18 beds and an ICU with 8 beds for adults, two pediatric wards (one with 12 beds) with two isolation rooms for infectious diseases, operating room facilities

6.Hospital Clínica Católica:

Clínica Católica offers a wide range of medical services to its patients. It has more than 1,000 beds and provides specialized care for patients with oncology, cardiology and pulmonology problems. It also offers assistance for children with disabilities and provides assistance to pregnant women who are at risk of complications during childbirth.

The hospital has several facilities that can provide medical attention to its patients. These include an emergency room, a laboratory, an intensive care unit (ICU), an operating room (OR) and a radiology department with x-ray equipment that can perform mammograms, ultrasounds and CT scans. The ICU has eight beds that are designed to provide intensive care for patients who need extra attention from the doctors due to their condition

La Plaza Hospital General is accessible by bus or taxi from San Jose International Airport or from any point in Costa Rica due to its location just outside of San Jose city limits in Heredia Province.

The hospital was founded by the Catholic Church in 1944 with only 10 beds but has since grown to be one of the largest hospitals in Costa Rica.

The most recent addition to the hospital is the new Clinical Hospital, which opened on January 17, 2017. This new building will provide care for patients suffering from psychiatric illnesses, neurological diseases and other conditions that require long-term treatment.

The old Clinical Hospital was demolished after it closed down on March 31, 2016. It had been used for over 50 years as an acute care facility and had become outdated due to its age and lack of space.

The Hospital General de Heredia was founded in 1914 with the name “Hospital de San Juan de Dios” and it was founded by Dr. Jorge Guevara who was also a surgeon at this facility. The hospital was renamed “Hospital General de Heredia” in 1948, when it became an autonomous entity from the San Juan de Dios Order, which established it originally.

The hospital has a total of 304 beds and provides coverage for over 1 million people living in its catchment area. It is composed of 4 buildings: Centro Médico (Medical Center), Centro Cirugía (Surgery Center), Centro Quirúrgico (Surgery Center) and Centro M

The Hospital de Alajuela is located on Avenida 4, Calle 12, in San José. It was established in 1948 after the president at the time, Rafael Angel Calderón Guardia, donated land to create it. The hospital is located close to other major hospitals and medical centers such as Hospital La Católica and Hospital San Juan de Dios.

Services offered by the Hospital de Alajuela include emergency care for adults and children as well as general surgery. They also offer psychiatric services for adults and children with mental illnesses that are not responding to treatment at home or elsewhere.
