The Central Clinical Hospital has a total area of about 1 hectare. It has about 400 beds for patients with acute diseases or injuries as well as for those who need rehabilitation after surgery or treatment at other hospitals.

The hospital is located on the left bank of Dniester River, near the central part of Chişinău. It has three floors and it covers an area of 1,600 m². It also has a pharmacy, laboratory, radiology department and emergency care unit.

The main building of the hospital was built in 1887 by architect Gheorghe Sion who used to work for Austrian authorities. The building was designed with neo-Gothic architectural style which is still preserved today.

In 2006-2007 the hospital was renamed to “Hospitalul de Copii şi Tineri” (Children’s and Teenagers’ Hospital).

The emergency room also hosts children’s intensive care unit where children admitted to the hospital are treated by pediatric surgeons who specialize in neonatal surgery, pediatric cardiothoracic surgery and pediatric neurosurgery.
